Could Giants get revenge on red-hot Packers? | Playoff scouting report
Dec 29 2016 by Ken Ortega
The Green Bay Packers travel to Detroit to face the Lions in a winner-take-all match-up for the NFC North Division crown and a playoff berth.
NY is also winless in two against the Redskins, and 2-3 straight-up and against the spread in its past five visits to Washington.
The point spread for Sunday's game is now 3.5 points in favor of the Packers, while the money line at the Las Vegas Westgate has the Packers at -190 to the Lions' +170.
Though not likely to be made official until much closer to kickoff, oddsmakers believe the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys (13-2) will rest their starters Sunday, as they sit as road underdogs visiting the Philadelphia Eagles (6-9). This was the first time the Lions rushed for three touchdowns in a game since an October 2013 home game, incidentally also against the Cowboys.
The Lions lost the season's first meeting 34-27 in Week 3, outscoring the Packers 17-3 in the second half to almost cover as 6.5-point underdogs.
Facing Rodgers at a time when he is on top of his game is a daunting prospect for the Lions. They had the finale in 2014, followed by a playoff game against Dallas, but the organization owns just two playoff appearances since the turn of the millennium and didn't win either. Detroit (9-6) is coming off a 42-21 whipping at the hands of Dallas.
Washington can exorcise many a demon from their past transgressions in big games with a win over the Giants.

Players to watch:Packers WR Geronimo Allison played in relief of the injured Randall Cobb and appeared to have developed timing and rapport with Rodgers. I believe both Atlanta and Seattle win, so the Lions would then be the No. 4 seed with a victory and host the Giants next weekend. The two-time MVP has been unstoppable in the last six games, throwing 14 touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Packers offensive co-ordinator Edgar Bennett has taken to giving Rodgers the nickname "Yellow Jacket", after the colour of the sport coat that retired players wear when inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Oakland has gone 2-8 straight up and 3-7 against the spread in the past 10 meetings with Denver. He completed 28-of-38 passes for 347 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for a touchdown before being lifted late in the fourth quarter with the Packers well ahead.
In the two team's first matchup this season Detroit lost to Green Bay by a score of 34-27, played at Lambeau Field.
