NFL Combine: 'You're going to get a difference-maker'

"If you're in the top 10", NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said, "you've got to come out with a Pro Bowl player".

Speaking to reporters on a conference call on Monday, Mayock pointed out the obvious: The Ravens draft not for need, but for the best talent available at positions of use.

Mayock went on to explain how he has "about the same grade" on Trubisky, his #3 quarterback prospect, as he placed on Garoppolo in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Webb is Mike Mayock's fifth best quarterback in the draft.

"I think it's one of the best defensive drafts I've ever seen", Mayock said. "As you stack your board, at worst case, you're going to get the fourth guy on your board".

For the Chargers, though, need and talent could coincide. In his two years at Alabama, Humphrey recorded 81 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 13 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown. If everything goes well though, you could start to see some interest build in him for later rounds.

"I just recently cut my hair so that may take a toll", he said laughing.

"More mistakes get made during those four days (of timing and workouts) at the combine than at any time during the scouting process", said Russ Lande, a former NFL scout who now works for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. "I don't really care what position".

So I believe the Chiefs are ahead of most of the teams. They also give players who weren't invited to the Combine a chance to prove why they should have been in attendance. And I think two safeties that I talked about earlier, Malik Hooker, because, let's face it, the Chargers lost Eric Weddle, I think Malik Hooker fits them like a glove. "If either of those guys got to four, you should throw a party".

"We'll have a whole combine corner area, where you can try to run the 40-yard dash against National Football League players", O'Reilly said. "It's probably going to be my first camp - it's not a camp - but really my first time testing, especially at a big level like this". "They're both that talented". They're distinctly different. I think the Eagles have to figure out what their order of preference is, what kind of style they want. Fournette, you're committing to a major run game effort, physicality in the run game. Davis won't run at the combine, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, but he'll be able to show off his hands a little bit.

"I think the beauty of the tight end class this year is it doesn't have to be at 20 (in the first round), it can be in the second or third round or maybe in the fourth round", Mayock said.

This year's first round offers a bevy of options in the front seven, and Mayock raved about the amount of quality edge rushers in particular.

It's always seemed more likely, due to the weakness of the draft class at tackle, that the Broncos would effectively address those positions (left and right side) in free agency.

As for quarterbacks, offensive tackles, wide receivers. not so much. Both Mathis and Branch finished the 2017 season on Arizona's injured reserve list.

Over the years, Eagles fans have been criticized for being unruly at times.
