Speed & Style! John Ross Breaks NFL Combine 40-Yard Dash Record

Johnson tweeted to Ross: Congrats.
Before we look at Engram as a tight end. Here's the general consensus after the combine, with the reminder that we're still seven weeks from the National Football League draft and plenty more can happen.
RB Christian McCaffrey (Stanford) - The former Heisman trophy finalist tested better in a number of areas than his top competition - LSU's Leonard Fournette and Florida State's Dalvin Cook - and notched a 6.57-second cone drill time - the second-best by a running back since 2003.
Ross ran fast at Washington. This year's combine was one of the most memorable in recent history, with the crown jewel being John Ross' record breaking 40 yard dash.
I would suggest that Ross is even faster than his 4.22 timing, as he obviously was dealing with some leg cramping when he eased off in the final 10 yards. "Two years ago, I was sitting on the couch for the whole season, torn ACL, and now to be in this position, I'm really thankful". More than anything else, analysts seem to love gushing over impressive 40-yard dash times. Ross was fifth in the vertical jump at 37 inches and third in the broad jump at 11-feet 1-inch.
The 2017 NFL Draft will take place April 27, and it is now crunch time for teams to get their draft boards finalized. Defensive end Ken Ekanem tied for the third-fastest 10-yard split in the 40-yard dash among defensive linemen at 1.68 seconds. That don't work. For example, if you are going up against a great corner like (teammates) Sidney Jones or Kevin King, those guys will defeat the speed with good technique.
DL Carl Lawson (Auburn) - There was another defensive end from the SEC worth discussing after Sunday's workouts. On Saturday, Mathis joined other Huskies at the National Football League combine (not pictured) and showed off his strength.
Noah Brown only participated in the bench press (19 reps) and 20 yard shuttle (4.33). "I'm good. I just have to think".
What many people also forget is that in 1999, former Atlanta Falcons seventh-round pick Rondel Menendez shared the record with Johnson, but he suffered a knee injury in a preseason game and was never the same.
Another issue that could hurt Mathis is a foot injury he sustained during the season that required surgery. He chose not to run the 40, and I assume he'll wait for the Pack's pro day, where he may feel more comfortable. And at Ohio State's Pro Day, NFL scouts will get an earful by Urban Meyer and his staff on those attributes.
Samuel proved he had the strength of a running back on Friday with his18 reps in the bench press. He was very smooth in field drills. A 4.53-second 40-yard dash and 39.5-inch vertical leap, second among all defensive linemen, highlighted his athletic ability. There are plenty of positions in this draft with no clear top three to four players, but the position groups as a whole are deep. There's little doubt about who was the star of the show at the Combine among the defensive backs, and it should help Melifonwu's draft stock as his athleticism was on display.
