Is it time to end Daylight Saving Time?

The time difference between the US time zones and Turkey will decrease by one hour as Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins on Sunday. But after World War I ended, many countries reverted back to standard time.

In fact, multiple studies have shown that DST influences many people negatively, especially in the first few days following the change.

A 2012 study from the University of Alabama-Birmingham found the Monday and Tuesday after daylight saving time in the spring have been associated with a 10 percent increase in heart attacks.

Daylight saving time is the practice of moving clocks forward by one hour during summer months so that daylight lasts longer into evening. Below are six things you can do to make the transition a little easier on your body and mind. There's also an increase in auto accidents and a decrease in cognitive functions, according to Peterson. Think of all that precious time you could have used for napping, wasted.

If you're here, you care, and the correct name is Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight Savings Time. Failing to do so results in being late for whatever obligations you have later during the day.

The jobs where you're MOST likely to get enough sleep include air traffic controllers. church workers. teachers. and farmers. Although Daylight Saving Time is no longer a federal requirement only two states don't do it, Arizona and Hawaii.

And spring DST is the worst of the times - we lose an hour of sleep, after all. Some great breakfast options are smoothies, eggs, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt or high fiber/low sugar cereal. We wake up in the morning at whatever time it is - wake up, get out of bed, drag a comb across our head. For those of you out there with busy schedules, however, I understand how you might (ironically) not have time throughout your day to get in those essential five minutes.

Beyond just cutting sleep and making you groggy at work for a few days, daylight saving is a great opportunity to check smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, vehicle batteries or schedule a bi-annual tooth cleaning.

It's still possible to access the water from some areas around the lake, but be sure to bundle up if you do this - 40-degree temperatures are certainly balmy for locals, but still pretty cold to go swimming in frigid waters. The measure received push back on sun lovers and businesses such as golf course owners and landscapers that relied on the extra hour of sunlight.
