Wizards' Oubre suspended for Game 4 for knocking over Olynyk

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas drives on Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal during the second half in Game 3 of a second-round NBA playoff series basketball game Thursday

After a 121-102 rout of the Celtics in Game 4 at Verizon Center that evened the series at 2-2 heading back to Boston, Washington big man Markieff Morris spoke in no uncertain terms about his team's confidence level.

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas (4) smiles during the first half in Game 4 of a second-round NBA basketball playoff series against the Washington Wizards, Sunday, May 7, 2017, in Washington.

The two teams play Game 5 on Wednesday night at 8 in Boston.

Beal led the Wizards in minutes as well in Game 4, logging 37:19 before exiting with Wall and the remaining starters in the closing stages of the fourth quarter and Washington leading by 20. Washington won a feisty Game 3, 116-89, after taking control with a 22-0 run in the first half.

"No matter what, I've gotta play the same way", said Thomas.

"It's just been a lot of hard fouls that you're used to seeing back in the old days' playoffs", Wall said. Korver's career high for points in a quarter is 17.

Oubre said Friday that he retaliated against Olynyk because of repeated hits by the Celtics center. "We knew coming out in the third quarter that we could definitely get it going defensively, and that's what we did".

Nothing really worked, so the best they could do is focus on just doing their tasks better.

"Blow them the [expletive] out", Morris said. "He's a small guy. But it does get a little frustrating when you continue to play the same way and there's nothing being called". "So if you're open, we're expecting you to make it". The team improved to 5-2 in playoff games when Wall and Beal combine for 50-plus points. He had a frightful 0-for-8 first-half performance, but he put in a game's worth of perfection in the third quarter, including one of the best passes in the playoffs this season.

In Game 4, the Wizards trailed early before an absolute masterpiece of a third quarter changed everything - a 26-0 run was the primary catalyst that time.

Morris contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds. In a season where I might have been top five in free throw attempts and makes. The Wizards outrebounded the Celtics, 45-31 and outscored Boston, 56-38, in the paint.

The NBA on Saturday announced Oubre's suspension without pay for "charging and making forceful and unwarranted contact".

Oubre's outburst in the second quarter of Game 3 on Thursday resulted in a flagrant 2 foul and an ejection.

Curry finished with 23 points on 6-for-20 shooting. His six turnovers matched his postseason high. "If you'd seen the clips of our transition D you would have traded all the players and fired me at the end of the game. The refs were allowing them to hold and grab and do all those things", Thomas said. Although Thomas hit his first five three-pointers (15 points), he made only one more shot from the field and scored just four more points. But they'll probably need something close to pull out their first win of the season in Boston.

The Wizards had a chance to win both games in Boston, but fell short because their defense did not hold up.

Boston flipped the script Sunday.

This was the apex of a Jeckyll-and-Hyde Wizards team: elite at home and lottery-bound on the road.

The Celtics had been overcoming slow starts, so in hopes of avoiding another, coach Stevens moved Gerald Green back into the starting lineup for Game 3, replacing ineffective Amir Johnson.

Yet, the series is tied, 2-2.

The Boston Celtics put forth a much better showing than we saw in Game 3.
