After winning the 2017 West Coast Conference title to secure the 2017 NCAA Regionals automatic bid, No. 20 BYU softball will head to the Salt Lake City Regional, starting with a matchup against Mississippi State on Thursday. Garrett May is tied for 41st place at 3-over 73, and Braden Bailey is tied for 61st at 6-over 76. UCLA enters the NCAA Tournament with the No. 5 seed, the same seed when the Bruins won the National Championship in 2010. Alexis Mack made the Second Team and Mia Camuso and Gwen Svekis landed on the Third Team All-Conference list. The Golden Bears and Irish will meet for the eighth time in series history, and the first time in the NCAA Championship. The Super Regional is a best two-of-three format with the victor advancing to the eight-team Women's College World Series, scheduled for June 1-7 in Oklahoma City, Okla. To complicate matters, if the Gophers advance out of their regional, they most likely will face No. 1-ranked Florida in the super-regionals.
The Oxford Regional will get underway Friday at 4 p.m. PST with Arizona State-North Carolina and can be seen on ESPN.
